A Guru Notebook to Explore Your Dating Experiences
Dating can suck. But it doesn’t have to!
The “traditional” and “chivalrous” times are all but gone. This is a new era, taken over by social media, online personas, and increased social anxiety. The world is evolving in many ways. Can love still be found?
Things have changed, but not all is lost. This is an era of self-discovery.
A question I often receive from my single girlfriends is, “Where are all the good men?” I feel for them, because these great women have a lot to offer a companion, but they just can’t seem to find the right match in the new world. And to be honest, I don’t believe they have a difficult time finding “good” men, because there are many great guys out there. I believe they haven’t considered what it is they really want in a partner.
We live in a world of a million choices. It can be, and often is, overwhelming for any single person to know what they truly want. Love is not a Disney fantasy as we were taught during childhood. Love is a decision and it takes a lot of commitment and work if you wish to have a meaningful and purposeful long-term relationship with someone.
So, I ask you: What are you truly looking for?
What are you looking for specifically? What are your non-negotiables, preferences, must-haves, compromises, values, and beliefs? Have you taken the time to analyze your dating experiences, observed your communication habits, discovered what turns you on physically and metaphysically, and notated events for self-interpretation and growth?
This ‘Dating Experiences Notebook’ is your opportunity to explore your needs and wants. Dates are awesome…even the bad ones! If you play the game of life correctly, you can gain a lot of self-awareness from bad dates. This is the time to start recording and learning. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain by writing it all down!
